My name is Brian Chase. I’ve known Betsy Jacobsen for 6 years. Her knowledge and professionalism has gained me two houses and a great friend. I met with three other agents who showed me houses I was qualified for and did not show me houses of the criteria I asked them. They actually had the audacity to show me homes in areas I specifically told them I wasn’t interested in. I had about given up on the home search when I met Betsy at a going away party for a mutual acquaintance. When she told me she was an agent, I gave her the details of what I wanted in a home and she produced. The only home she showed me was the home I needed. She listened to my exact specifications and produced. My work schedule was hectic and Betsy thoroughly accommodated me. She also brought the price of the home down for me through her resources and knowledge of repairs and codes. The entire process to buy this neglected house, and the county paperwork to fix it and make it legal was completely painless because Betsy did it all. I just signed the papers and BAM, I bought my house.

Our relationship does not end here. She followed up with me months after, to ensure the home was to my liking, as well as any problems I may have encountered with the county. I also received a care package of important phone numbers and web sites to resources I possibly needed relating to being a homeowner. She also saved me money by pointing out some excessive charges by my mortgage company of unnecessary fees. How’s that? She was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and accommodating. I can’t praise her enough.

Then when it came time to sell that house, she swooped in and produced the same results but this time I’m the seller. She produced a win-win sale that pleased both parties. Prior to the sale she explained in great detail the deficiencies in the house I could remedy for a higher resale. She also took care of all processes while I was off island. Once again her professionalism and knowledge paid off for both parties. I received a great profit on my house and the buyers received a great home for their buck.

When we found out I was being transferred from Southern California to Maui, we began frantically searching for a realtor. My wife, who was born in Wailuku and lived in Kahului prior to her family moving to California 35 years ago, searched the internet for home listings and realtors. The name that kept popping up in our searches was Betsy Jacobsen and for a very good reason. As fate would have it, Betsy was the one and only real estate broker who replied to our inquiries via email and a connection was made. She was incredible by assisting us in purchasing our home from 2500 miles away. Her business contacts on the island made this a flawless transaction.

Between our work and school schedules, we only had three days to spend on Maui looking at houses. We provided Betsy with a list of potential houses and she did the rest. Our entire time on the island went like clockwork. Betsy had flawlessly scheduled the showing times with each of the seller's representatives. By the end of the day, we had viewed every house on our list. The next day, we wrote up an offer for one of the homes we had viewed, but as fate would have it, the offer fell through our final day on Maui. It was obvious that house wasn't meant to be, because the house that put us in contact with Betsy was back on the market just down the street. Knowing that we were heading back to California that evening, Betsy met us in Kihei, and by the time we got on the plane, we had a signed contract in hand and the escrow process began.
Even after the contract was signed, Betsy strove to ensure that all the inspections were completed in time, that all the documentation was correct and submitted, and that the sellers lived up to their contractual obligations. She kept us informed at each of the milestones of the process. I flew out the day before the walkthrough and six days later we had a set of keys and a new home.

Betsy has made coming home to Maui the best experience my wife could ever imagine. And because of Betsy, Maui is now home for me and our kids as well. Spending two days with Betsy during our house hunting trip in Nov 05, she helped us purchase the home we wanted. But most of all, we gained a new friend.
